Can you guaruntee my pets behaviour will change?
Is my pet too old to be trained?
In short, no. Most pets can continue to learn new things as they age. In fact, it is highly beneficial to challenge your pets with new tasks and activities as they grow older, as this helps keep them mentally stimulated and improves their cognitive abilities.
Why do I need a vet referral?
As a pre-certified clinical animal behaviourist, I am committed to providing effective services. To ensure this, I require a referral from your vet to confirm that your pet's behaviour is not due to any underlying medical conditions. There is a form you can find on the contact page to forward on to your vet.
What is your approach to pet training?
I really try to get to know you and your pet as well as background information which might be relevent. This helps me choose the best training methods which are likely to be more successful for your specific lifestyle and ability.
Will your fee be covered by my insurance?
Unfortunatley, it depends on the insurer. Some insurance companies will cover the cost of behavioural consultations but you'd need to check in with your individual insurance company to find out.
Do I need to show the behaviourist the problem behaviour?
No, I do not need to see or experience the problem behaviour firsthand. My goal is to avoid causing any further stress or harm to your pet during our work together, so I actively avoid triggering that problem behaviour. During our initial behaviour consultation, we will discuss the issue in detail, ensuring I have a clear understanding without needing to provoke the behaviour. If you have any recordings or videos of the behaviour, they can be helpful but are not required.
How can I schedule a consultation?
You can schedule a consultation by contacting me through my website, or email and we will arrange a convenient time for your initial behaviour consultation. Please ensure you also get in touch with your veterinary practice to gain a referral for behavioural advice as this is essential before we begin our consultation. I also require the vet to forward on a copy of your pet's full medical history prior to our initial behavioural consultation.
